Had my one-year-working-as-a-proofreader anniversary at the beginning of May. Last May I had one client and four jobs for a grand total of 442 pages. One year, seven fairly regular clients, a few one-off jobs, and 46,480 pages later, I am so glad to have been able to earn an income while being flexible enough to take care of things like taking my very sick dog to the vet when she needed it, playing chauffeur for family members who needed car rides to the airport, being able to schedule doctor appointments and car maintenance appointments when needed, taking a vacation whenever I wanted to, et cetera, without having to juggle requesting time off from work or worrying about having enough PTO days to cover everything that needed to be done. Looking at my records, a little more than of those pages has been since the beginning of the year. Just a little encouragement for those of you just getting started or having a slower-than-you-would-like-start to finding clients.
